When you choose a HEIC file, it is read by code running inside your own browser. The decoder is compiled to WebAssembly and shipped to your device along with the page, so the conversion happens locally on your machine. No copy of the photo is transmitted to this site or to any third party.

You do not have to take our word for it. Open your browser developer tools, switch to the network tab, and convert a photo. You will see the page load, and then nothing further. That check takes about ten seconds and is the most reliable privacy guarantee any converter can offer.

Because no photo reaches a server, there is no copy to retain, no retention window and nothing to delete. Converted files exist only in your browser memory until you download them, and disappear when you close or refresh the page.

This site sets no cookies and does not use advertising or cross site tracking. Nothing about your files, filenames or photo contents is recorded.

Loading any web page involves a request to a server, so the host serving freeheictojpg.site sees standard technical information such as your IP address and browser version, in the same way every website does. That is a property of the web itself and is unrelated to your photos, which never form part of any request.

If this ever changes, the change will be described on this page rather than buried in a longer document. The architecture is the promise here: as long as conversion runs in your browser, there is nothing for us to collect.
